Just Two Kids Running it.....

Just two kids who are putting Vermont on the map, is how I would title it. Their mission is simple, "We are a team of two young 17 year old kids from Burlington, Vermont, that make and share content for the public to watch and enjoy!"-David and Gray.
But nonetheless, these kids are doing something special. Make sure to check out their blog HERE

Symptoms New Skate Video Coming Soon

"Good Things Come To Those Who Skate" is the title to the new Vermont skate film coming out soon directed by Travis Card. This is his third full length feature. My good friend and old roommate would share his stories about being on the road filming skaters worldwide on a zero dollar production budget. Theyre always entertaining and inspirational-not to mention the skaters in the video are raw and amazing. As of now, I dont have an exact release date but be on the lookout for a special screening.

Finger Drumming 101

How to do mpc pad finger drumming from Brandon Murphy on Vimeo.

I have always been impressed with people who can play the drums on an MPC and make it sound like the real thing. I've also never really had a great method to putting my drums together for ease of use with a midi controller. This guy, Brandon Murphy, produces music and has been using an MPC for awhile. In this video he explains a method that he uses to make drumming on an MPC (or MPD) both easier and more realistic sounding. I'm gonna see if I can rock this in Ableton using Drum Racks.

Next step: playing the MPC with one hand while looping piano chord progressions and doing jazz improv with the other like Miles. I have my work cut out for me. Definitely check it out. There's some good info here.

Also, get outside. It's so nice out today in Burlington.

More Dilla

I just finished making this Dilla papercraft, and the previous post about the donut shop serato set reminded me to post this up for people who like the man's beats, as well as arts and crafts. You can download the files HERE (via rbst) to print out and make one yourself. My favorite thing is the mini MPC-3000.

Enjoy,

Go Go Gadget: MIDI

Ponder this: What if Dave Smith never invented MIDI? Instead of talking about new inventions, we've decided to honor this segment to the creators of music technology and the world theyve helped shape....GO GO GADGET.

Got Vinyl?

If any DJ were to put Burlington, Vermont on the map-it would have to go to DJ A DOG. And perhaps maybe his massive record collection too. In this digital age, more and more vinyl 'true school' DJ's are converting those old dusty records to wav and mp3's. I remember growing up in the vinyl age (9 years ago) and racing to our local record store to get the new gems. But of course when I show up, the staff would tell me 'oh A Dog was just here, better luck next time' He managed to snatch up most of the goodies. Buying vinyl wasnt like buying a cd where you would always have ten copies of each, no vinyl if you were lucky you would only get two copies of each. But of course, beat juggling DJ's would always want two copies. According to A Dog's blog, his record collection will be on sale at Burlington Records by the end of the week. I'll be there ;)
